Made in Greenwich, a beautiful gift shop and creative community hub, was opened by the not-for-profit organisation GCDA (Greenwich Cooperative Development Agency) at the end of last year and is packed with locally made and exclusive goods that reflect the cultural diversity of the area. You will find everything from hand-crafted jewellery made of pottery salvaged from the Thames to vibrant wax fabric lampshades and a range of stunning ceramics. Foodies can take home spice rubs, rum cake, chocolate, sauces and the award-winning Wolfe’s Shrubs fruit cordials. IKEA sponsored the shop-fit and also supplied furnishings for the rear of the premises, a light-filled space that can be hired for workshops, pop-up events, talks or training from £20 per hour.
More info on the space for hire:
The rear space (which is accessed through the shop) is filled with natural light and is perfect for creative workshops, pop-ups and other events. It can comfortably seat up to 12 people at tables and up to 30 people for a seated screening or meeting. There is a large TV screen, perfect for power-point presentations and a kitchen area with kettle, fridge, sink and some limited storage. There is also a toilet and hand-basin. For further information email madeingreenwich@gcda.org.uk - prices from £20 per hour. Curated pop-ups of the shop area and front-facing window are also available - price on application.
