A traditional local pub and the only Young's pub in the area
Located on Royal Hill, the street was originally called Gang Hill dating from the times of the press gangs that kidnapped the unfortunate drunks and carted them off to sea.
This dog-friendly pub is proud to have been the heart of the community since 1923, where the neighbourhood comes together to enjoy everything Richard I pub has to offer. From guest ales to craft beers, the team is on hand to pull you the perfect pint. Not to mention our impressive collection of fine wines and premium spirits.
The pub's nostalgic menu will transport you back to when the entire family was gathered around enjoying mum’s home-cooked meal and a classic Roly Poly for dessert!
The food is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises with classics such as Young’s beer battered fish and chips, and sausages and creamy mash.
A barbecue is available in summer.
