Located in the same building as the Greenwich Picture House, Rivington Greenwich is set over two stories, with a mezzanine seating 45 people for private parties and a 25-seat terrace. Like its sister restaurant in Shoreditch, the walls are whitewashed, the floors stripped wood and the tables dressed with white linen, and the emphasis is on simple, British dishes cooked with ingredients from small, bespoke suppliers. As well as the main dining area, there is a more relaxed area at the entrance for cocktails and snacks such as sticky pig ribs, Scotch egg, caper mayonnaise and homemade fish fingers, tartare sauce all to be found in the “Snacks” section of the menu, and a bar that spans the width of the room. The gin menu at Rivington is worth a mention as well, with 130 different brands listed, the possibilities for different G&Ts are endless. Rivington sources its food responsibly from the British Isles and is a true neighbourhood restaurant.
As anyone who has even cursory experience with children will tell you, the real decision makers in a family are not the parents! Nope – it’s the children who lead the charge, and, for better or worse, parents only ever think that they’re the boss. Chef Marius Dima’s children’s menu offers dishes for kids up to 12 including homemade chish & fips, ‘ickle burger & chips, grilled chicken, chips ‘n’ peas et al. And the best thing is that Kids Eat Free from Monday to Saturday, 12 noon to 7pm (2 children per paying adult), which presents the perfect solution for after school tea or a kid’s birthday party (accompanied by a smattering of adults!). Because Greenwich is such a hive of activity and opportunities (Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory or a Clipper trip down the Thames…), families can combine favourite occupations such as eating, playing and having fun all at the same time.
Separate Dining Space
The mezzanine can accommodate up to 45 seated for lunch or dinner, and 60 for a canapé reception. Menus vary, but the whole suckling pig feast is consistently popular. Other feast menus are also available. Full restaurant hire available – please apply for details.
In celebration of this year’s Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta we are partnering with Plymouth Gin, the journey of Plymouth Gin is synonymous with the British Royal Navy, its sailors and ships. It was a tradition in the Royal Navy that all newly commissioned ships received a “Plymouth Gin Commissioning kit”, a wooden box containing two bottles of navy strength Plymouth gin and glassware. We will be commemorating this with our very own Rivington x Plymouth Gin Commissioning Kit and there will be a series of Gin Masterclasses during the Tall Ships week.
More information and tickets for the masterclass can be found here: https://www.designmynight.com/london/whats-on/food-drink/rendezvous-plymouth-gin-masterclass?t=tickets
